Emma Carter, originally of Charlotte, North Carolina is a big sister, poet, graphic designer, and high school English teacher.

She earned her Master of Arts in Teaching (in Secondary English) from Duke University in 2025, where she was also a Durham Teaching Fellow. Also a 2023 graduate from NC State’s graphic design and English creative writing programs, she is interested in the dance between language and visuals, and how language and design can (and must!) inform one another.

She particularly enjoys layout and publication design, information architecture, media literacy, empowering students, quiltmaking and other fiber crafts, frogs, southern literature, Appalachian tradition, and beverages of all kinds.

She is a Virgo sun, Libra moon, and Aquarius rising.
